We realize there are many more books to explore on the market that we may not currently carry. Yes! Kindred Stories has partnered with Libro.fm to provide access to audiobooks for readers who prefer an audio format. When you purchase an audiobook or a Libro.fm monthly membership, you are directly supporting our store with your dollars which helps us keep our doors open, create jobs, and ultimately increases the positive impact we have on our local community.

We always pre-sell books not yet released via our online store. This is a great way to support authors and helps them make the New York Times Bestsellers list. The ship dates for these books are marked on the product page and are always subject to change. Due to our agreements with publishers and authors, we cannot ship these books before their release date.

If you purchase a preorder book along with an in-stock book, we will email you to ask whether you would like both books shipped together. Please note that choosing this option may delay your entire order until the preorder book is released on the date listed on its product page.

If you would like to receive the in-stock book right away, an additional shipping charge will apply, as the preorder book will need to be shipped separately once it is released.

If a book you’d like to purchase is currently out of stock, please get in touch with us at info@kindredstorieshtx.com so we can advise you on when we expect a restock. Alternatively, we can place a custom order for you if you’d like to have the book immediately.

If you’ve purchased something in stock on our website, we’ll place it in the mail within 1-3 business days. Here are the advertised delivery times according to the USPS website:

Priority Mail: 1-3 business days

If your order is not received, please use the tracking information emailed to you and contact USPS to inquire about the package's location. As a small business, we are unable to replace lost or stolen packages. We will try our best to help you remedy the situation.

Some books listed on our website are not currently available on our shelves and may be ordered on demand. In some cases, customer demand for these titles has decreased, but our love for the book has not. We believe these stories, ideas, and perspectives remain important, and we have chosen to keep them available on our website for the culture’s sake.

Because these books are ordered on demand, please allow additional time for them to arrive. Availability is also subject to change. If a book is no longer available from the publisher or distributor, we will notify you and issue a refund for the unavailable item.

If you select in-store pickup, we will order the book from the publisher or distributor and notify you as soon as it arrives at Kindred Stories and is ready for pickup.

If you select shipping, we may have the book shipped directly from the publisher or distributor to help you receive your order more quickly.

If your order includes both in-stock books and books that need to be ordered, we will contact you to let you know that your order may be delayed. If you would like to receive the in-stock books sooner, you may request separate shipments in your response. Please note that an additional shipping charge will apply.

We do offer local pick-up. Just select the local pick-up option when checking out. You will have 14 days to pick up your books before they are donated to a neighborhood school, free little library, or placed in our free books basket for the community to have. We try our best to send multiple pick-up reminders, and you can pay for shipping anytime. Due to the limited space in our store, we have to keep this policy in place. Thanks for understanding!
